The F-16 is used by many units at Nellis and at any given time there are several USAF units training from the base. In the morning
F-16's from Luke AFB were flying. The F-16C/D that were flying were a mixture of CJ's loaded with HTM pods while some were carrying the latest pod on the intake,
the SNIPER. Also shot was one CCIP upgraded F-16. Nellis based Vipers carry either the WA (Weapons School) or OT (Test and Evaluation) tailcodes.
The most popular F-16's that are based at Nellis are the Aggressor Vipers from the 64th Aggressor Squadron.
A-10 Warthog's have flown out of Nellis for years. The fleet is going through upgrades right now and will be known as the A-10C when
completed. Some of the photo's below show Warthog's carrying Lightning targeting pods and bombs used for practice out on the range. During my day at Nellis A-10's from
Alaska AK and Maryland MD were flying as well as the home base units WA and OT.
F-15C/D's were flying a lot during the day with Langley AFB FF Eagles flying along with F-15C from the Weapons School. Many of these
F-15's were flying with the latest version of the Sidewinder air to air missile, the AIM-9X.
The following F-15E Strike Eagle's were all carrying the new Sniper pod under the port intake.
The 65th Aggressor Squadron is the new kid on the block at Nellis. These F-15's are painted in either a brown or blue camo scheme and use the
call sign, "Flanker". Only the blue Flankers flew this day with a brown Flanker on display during the airshow weekend. For static photo's of the brown variant, go
to my Aviation Nation Airshow page.
The F-22A is the new kid on the block. Raptor's from the Nellis unit, 422nd Test and Evaluation Unit "OT" and visiting from Langley AFB wearing the famous FF tail code were in the
the Media Day on Friday, the six visiting Raptors from Langley left for home early in the morning, these photos have been added from their departure.
Common at Nellis AFB are air forces from around the world, this day saw F-16 MLU's from the Belgian Air Force flying out to the range.
